Comment:Porphyra is a blade-forming red seaweed that appear on rocky shorelines throughout the world. It is one or two cells in thickness and ranges from a few mm to over 3 m in length. The blades vary in color from yellow, olive, pink, to even purple. It has a unique dimorphic life cycle consisting of two generations, a leafy, haploid gametophyte and a microscopic diploid filamentous sporophyte.
